Celebrating Women’s History Month: Moving Forward Together

On March 24th, a vibrant community gathered to celebrate Women’s History Month with Sister Cities of Durham, the Durham County Women’s Commission, and Durham County Library’s Adult Programs. With over 100 participants in attendance, the event was a powerful testament to the strength, resilience, and leadership of women who are making an impact locally and internationally.

The evening featured a dynamic panel discussion with five inspiring women leaders who shared their experiences in building international connections through their work and volunteering. Their stories highlighted the importance of collaboration, cultural exchange, and the role women play in shaping a more inclusive world.

One of the key takeaways came from Zoe, founder of ny& Culture Connect, who passionately reminded us why celebrating Women’s History Month is so crucial. She emphasized that honoring this month is not just about recognizing the progress women have made but also about amplifying their voices in the present and inspiring future generations. By sharing our successes, supporting each other, and creating opportunities for growth, we ensure that the momentum for equality continues forward.
